Anakin Skywalker, the former Tatooine slave, found by  Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, was full of promise. Once regarded as a being with the power within him to become the most powerful Jedi who ever lived, he was seen as the chosen one who would bring harmony and balance to the Force and save the universe.

Anakin is against it, saying that the innocent factory workers (treated as slaves) shouldn't be forced to die for the cause. So he goes against his commander's plan, goes to the factory, and fights a fleet of droid guards. He overpowers them all very easily.

In Star Wars: Obi-Wan and Anakin #2, Anakin is a young Jedi-in-training, learning how a Jedi under his master Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin has his doubts about his place as a Jedi, so when Obi-Wan receives a call for help from Carnelion IV, he takes Anakin along with him on the mission. After crash landing on the island, they find a civilization hidden under a puff of thick smoke.

Upon moving closer to investigate, they find an aircraft plummeting to the ground and, after saving the women on board, find that their not seen as heroes at all - as one of the women points a gun at them and claims to know nothing about Jedi's. Then, he saves the life of someone who turns out to be an adversary to the women, and when both the women and this mystery man pull guns on each other, Anakin asks Obi-Wan if he can intervene. He uses his lightsaber to remove their guns from their hands, and Obi-Wan finishes it off, calling time-out on the fight.

Also, in Star Wars: Obi-Wan and Anakin #2, When all (including the fighter women Anakin and Obi-Wan saved from a plummeting aircraft and the man who opposed them) encounter a legion of Corpse-Leeches who want to stop the group from crossing to the other side of the mountain (their destination). Obi-Wan tells Anakin not to worry, that he can sense these Corpse-Leeches are mindless. At first, Anakin is unstable and insecure in using the force, and Obi-Wan encourages him to focus. Anakin ultimately overcomes them, but he does it with rage, and he's troubled by it.

In  Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones #1, The Republic is divided. Some want to separate, and others want to force the entire Republic to come back together. But when Padme Amidala arrives at the senate, and a close friend and guard die in her arms in an attack meant for her, Anakin and Obi-Wan are sent to protect her. It turns out that Bounty Hunter Zam Wesell and a masked figure plot to poison Padme with leech-like creatures that are exceptionally poisonous and send the creaturePadme's way through a droid. Anakin slices the poisonous creature with his lightsaber and races to get a vehicle to pursue the bounty hunter and catch Obi-Wan in the air (as he's falling quickly after Wesell shot the live droid to pieces.  They pursue the bounty hunter through the streets, and when it looks like they lost her, he plummets in the air and catches the bounty hunter, and a struggle begins. Anakin manages to get his lightsaber out, and the bounty hunter puts a firebomb out; and as they plummet to the ground, Anakin lands on his feet, and so does the bounty hunter - who escaped into a nearby club.

In Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones #2, Padme and Anakin share a romantic kiss, and Anakin tells her he would do anything for her. Padme then tells Anakin she can't let him give up his future for her, and when he suggests they maintain a romance in secret, she refuses, and Anakin sadly says a secret romance would indeed ruin them. The next morning, Anakin wakes up from a nightmare about his mother and decides he must go and save her life. Padme suggests that she goes with him to look after her and his mother at the same time, and they agree not to tell Obi-Wan about their mission.

In Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones #3, Anakin learns that his mom was taken by Tusken Raiders while picking mushrooms. His step-father (the man who first took his mother as a slave before freeing her and marrying her) said she's probably dead by now, but Anakin can still feel her pain. So Anakin goes to the Tusken Raiders camp and attacks - killing the entire Tusken village (after finding his mother and holding her in his arms as she dies).

In Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones #3 Anakin receives word that there is trouble brewing in Geonosis, and rather than listening to Master Windu's orders to stay put and protect Padme, Padme heavily coerces him to travel to Geonosis to try and save Obi-Wan's life (where it looks like Obi-Wan was ambushed by droids while sending his hologram message). Padme and Anakin arrive in the center of a droid foundry and are immediately met with opposition. The Geonosian Warriors strike an attack against them, and Anakin is separated from Padme in the struggle.

In Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones #4, Anakin and Padme stand trial in Geonosis and are found guilty of espionage. Padme tells the Archduke that he's committing an act of war by having her and Anakin stand trial, and they are brought to the arena where they will be killed while in chains. Padme and Anakin confess their love for each other, and when the guards aren't looking, Padme pulls a bit of wire from her mouth and begins to pick the lock of her chains. Obi-Wan, already chained to the alcove in the arena, says he was wondering if Anakin got his message, and Anakin replies that he did and decided to come anyway (as Obi-Wan said not to come but wanted him to). As deadly beasts are released in the arena, Padme is unlocking her chains and climbs a post. Anakin and Obi-Wan fight for their lives and make it out.

In Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones #4, The Clone Trooper Infantry has descended on the arena to kill. Padme, Anakin, and Obi-Wan are split about whether to leave or go after Dooku. Obi-Wan says he needs Anakin and can't take Dooku alone, and when Anakin shows loyalty to Padme, Obi-Wan says he will be expelled from the Jedi Order if he continues to go against Obi-Wan's wishes. Ultimately Anakin goes with Obi-Wan, and they find Dooku trying to escape in a secret tower hangar. But instead of heeding Obi-Wan's advice to move together slowly, he pounces and is seriously singed by Dooku before  Obi-Wan begins to fight Dooku (who quickly disarms him and almost finished him off before Anakin steps in again). Obi-Wan tosses Anakin his sword, and using both lightsaber's he ruins his momentum by growing too confident in the fight (by thinking he quickly overpowered Dooku).  Still, it was a great show of Anakin's burgeoning and almost matchless tenacity and strength in a fight.

In Star Wars: Obsession #3, Obi-Wan and Anakin are on the hunt for a Separatist (Asajj Ventress), and they are following a path that Obi-Wan believes will lead them to this Separatist.  While looking for Ventress, Anakin and Obi-Wan stumble upon an abandoned drifting space wreck, and they become separated. Left without his mentor, Anakin has no choice but to fight Durge, the bounty hunter, on an abandoned ship rigged with explosives. The battle that ensues is vicious: Durge gets some powerful punches and knocks Anakin across the ship room. However, the explosives on board are to Anakin's advantage as he uses the force to push them in the direction of  Durge and literally blows him back.  Anakin taunts him, telling Durge he can feel how weak he is and that his body must be working really hard to recover. Then, assuring Durge that he'll never make it off the ship without his help, he delivers his final assault - using the force to expel him from the abandoned craft and into space.

In Star Wars: Republic #71, Obi-Wan and Quinlan Vos have joined a Republic fleet above Rendili. That is where Jedi council member Saesee Tiin is trying to stop Seperatiests from taking possession of Dreadnaught-class starcruisers. Vos manages to get a fighter craft and paves a path for Anakin to make a risky strike against a Rendili flagship. Then, seeking revenge, Asajj Ventress interrupts Anakin's holo message from Padme and steals it. She asks him if his mentor knows about his relationship with Padme before Anakin threatens to kill her as their fight begins. Both are powerful, and with Anakin's darker side bubbling at the surface, he doesn't hesitate to tie her up in metal and throw her off a bridge while bound up.
