Actor Alan Tudyk made his opinion on the much-derided Star Wars prequel trilogy crystal clear when he gave the films a backhanded compliment. On Twitter, Scott Malthouse of Osprey Games challenged people to "say a genuinely nice thing about the Star Wars prequels." Tudyk, in turn, noted that the prequels led to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Well received by critics and fans, Rogue One was the second highest-grossing film of 2016 and earned an 84 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

For Tudyk, however, his answer might not just reflect personal preference or the movie's popularity.

Rogue One provided Tudyk with his first opportunity to appear in a Star Wars movie. In the film, Tudyk played the renegade imperial security droid K-2SO, who was the partner of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). He not only voiced the character but performed the motion capture for the droid himself.

Despite K-2SO's sacrifice at the climax of Rogue One, Tudyk will reprise the role in Disney+'s upcoming Cassian Andor series
