Star Wars is an ever-expanding universe, with lots of new shows being announced all the time. One of the most anticipated series at the moment is Ahsoka. The show will follow an older Ahsoka Tano who is pursuing Grand Admiral Thrawn across the vast galaxy. Even more details about the series have come to light from Star Wars Celebration. The show will feature many characters from Star Wars Rebels and is proving to be a true love letter to the animated series.

Ahsoka Tano was first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and rose to be a fan-favorite character. Ahsoka will mark the first time that the character is getting a solo series, and fans are extremely excited to see what it will have in store. The series will take place around the same time as The Mandalorian and will feature Rosario Dawson reprising her role as the ex-Jedi Padawan. As hinted at in season two of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka seems to be hunting down Grand Admiral Thrawn, possibly in hopes of locating the Jedi, Ezra Bridger.

At Star Wars Celebration this past weekend, it was confirmed that Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, Chopper and the ship, The Ghost, would all be appearing in the upcoming series. These are all beloved characters and vehicles from the animated series. Sabine and Hera are some of the most dynamic of all Star Wars characters and fans are anticipating seeing them be brought to live-action. Chopper is also one of the best droids in Star Wars, and fans are happy to finally be seeing more of him. Bringing these characters to the series helps to give Star Wars Rebels more of the appreciation that it very much deserves.

Also shown at the convention was a quick teaser for the series. One shot was described as re-creating the scene from the end of Rebels wherein Sabine is looking at the painting of all the Ghost crew members. Seeing this scene used in live-action is a great way to honor the animated series and show that Ahsoka will be a proper sequel to it. Bringing in these beloved characters and giving homages to heart-touching scenes proves that the series will provide Rebels fans with closure and connection to the animated series.

Star Wars Rebels doesn't always receive the same praise that The Clone Wars does, despite telling some incredible stories and really expanding the scope of the Force. Ahsoka will not only tell more stories about the Jedi, but it will also bring Rebels into the limelight and show that it has a lot to offer fans. If Ahsoka ends up pursuing Ezra across the galaxy, then the series has the potential to be truly amazing, with far-reaching implications for the franchise.

Ahsoka will be a true love letter to everything that is great about Star Wars Rebels. It will give the characters and stories that the animated series introduced the recognition that they deserve. Continuing those stories in such an anticipated series will only bring new fans to Rebels and help to satisfy the long-standing fans of the animated series.

Ahsoka is expected to premiere in 2023 on Disney+.
