CBR presents an exclusive first look at artist Chris Sprouse's Lucasfilm 50th anniversary variant cover for March's Star Wars #21, written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Ramon Rosanas and Marco Castiello.
The cover notably features the Marvel Comics debuts of Kuiil and IG-11, who were standouts in Season 1 of Disney+'s The Mandalorian. However, it should be noted that while these anniversary covers are intended to celebrate characters from across the Star Wars galaxy, neither Kuiil nor IG-11 feature in the issue's story itself.
Kuiil, played by Misty Rosas and voiced by Nick Nolte, debuted in the series premiere of The Mandalorian. The character is an Ugnaught who aids Din Djarin throughout the first season before being killed trying to save Grogu, though fans still remember him fondly for his "I have spoken" catchphrase.
IG-11 similarly debuted in the first episode of The Mandalorian, with Taika Waititi lending his voice to the bounty-hunting droid. Though he was originally an antagonist of sorts, Kuiil reprograms IG-11 to be far more docile, and after healing Din from life-threatening injuries, he sacrifices himself to save Mando and Grogu.
