The idea of closet cosplay is to find whatever you already have in your wardrobe, or what you can thrift or find cheaply in stores and online, and put an outfit together based on a character. Unlike actual cosplay, closet cosplay doesn't need to be an exact replica of what the character wears. It can be based on the color schemes, the general aesthetic vibe the character portrays, or a mock representation of the character's exact outfit.

Closet cosplay has a couple of different names within the community, such as geek chic or Disneybounds, but the overall idea is still the same. It's to represent your favorite characters in the most fashionable way possible. Here are some of the 10 best Star Wars themed closet cosplay.

10 Embracing The Dark Side

With massive dark side vibes, @damfino has inspired her outfit on one of the most popular villains in the galaxy, Darth Vader. She based her look on a Darth Vader Star Wars line of Barbi dolls. She usually dresses in very dapper apparel and made this look extra regal. She also is dressed pretty much exactly how the doll is dressed! She uses Vader's breathing panel as a clutch purse and wears a long flowing cape to instill fear into the hearts of all she meets. It helps that @damfino has taken her pictures at Galaxy's Edge in Disney, bringing the whole photo altogether, background and outfit.

9 A Jedi In Training

@catherine perfectly nailed her concept and idea with this one! Her closet cosplay is based on Luke Skywalker in Empire Strikes Back. Luke goes to the Dagobah system to train with Jedi Master, Yoda, only to end up carrying the little green guy on his back! @catherine has made her outfit to almost perfectly match Luke's look on the mossy planet, her texture sleeveless top and matching cargo pants are perfect for the young Jedi.

8 Rey Has Joined The Dark Side

This outfit is based on a concept art piece from The Rise of Skywalker. The concept art had imagined if Rey did end up falling into the dark side, giving in to her heritage and standing side-by-side with Kylo Ren on the throne of the Sith. @miss.lys has captured the Dark Rey look perfectly.

She used a lot of stuff she already had in her closet from online "small-business" shops and got the rest on Amazon. She pulled out her red lightsaber to truly complete her look.

7 Just A Girl And Her Droid

@melificent and her adorable daughter have dressed as Rey and C-3PO. @Melificent got her Rey inspired dressed from a small online business called Little Petals. Both mom and daughter are wearing the Star Wars collection that the shoe brand Toms has released. Both are based on Princess Leia and some of her iconic looks within the original trilogy. In the second image of this photoset, the pair twirl around in their cute outfits and look absolutely adorable!

6 The Mando And The Child

Based on The Mandalorian, this closet cosplay done by @becomingfelicity is one of a kind. She went for a bit more of a glam aesthetic, while still keeping the gritty tones of the hit show. Her hood and sunglasses emulate the helmet the Mandalorian wears throughout the series. She also holds a small Baby Yoda, wrapped up in blankets for the pictures to complete the look. Disney often holds Dapper Days, where people dress in Disneybounds but make it a bit more on the fancy side. It seems like that is the theme @becomingfelicity has gone for.

5 The Princess

Based on the best princess the galaxy has ever known, @thebabeintoyland has created an outfit on Princess Leia's iconic ceremony garb that she wears at the end of A New Hope while honoring Luke and Han Solo with their medals.

@thebabeintoyland has used this beautiful and elegant jumpsuit that has a sheer cape attached, which even further exemplifies the royalty that is the Princess of Alderaan. She also wore a silver belt and necklace to match Leia's from the film.

4 A Fallen Jedi

This look is based on the idea of a Fallen Jedi. @anakinandhisangel, who has been around as a Star Wars blogger for over a decade, has combined elements of the dark side and the light. Her dress is meant to replicate the robes of the Jedi order, while her hood and gloves (and saber) show that this once Jedi has now fallen to the dark side. Her belt also signifies her idea, with an elegant and simple bow but the natural aggressive nature of the black leather. And of course, her red lightsaber perfectly brings it all together.

3 Queen Of Naboo

In honor of Queen Amidala, @akangaru has put together an outfit based on the queen and her handmaidens. This look is actually based on the Star Wars novel by EK Johnston, Queen's Shadow that tells of a younger Padmé and introduces all her handmaidens to Star Wars fans everywhere.

The other names on @akangaru's shirt are the names of the maidens, the red cardigan and jewelry based on Padmé's queen look. This closet cosplayer also added the extra element of Queen Amidala's unique makeup to really drive the idea in. She is Padmé.

2 Real House Wives Of The First Order

This look is based on the general of the first order, General Hux. Hux is a stiff military man, and this look encompasses that aesthetic while still having unique flair that makes it totally @lefancygeek. The long, silky coat with the patch on the chest and the first order skater skirt underneath to complement. Even her tights are reminiscent of the angular ship designs, which match perfectly and round out the look as a whole. She added a small bit of color with the pink undershirt and gave the camera a stern look that totally read "Hux."

1 Best Pilot In The Galaxy

This closet cosplayer has based her ensemble on Hera Syndulla from Star Wars Rebels. Hera is a Twi'lek pilot who fights for the rebellion before the rebellion is even really a thing. @legeekyliife has done pigtails on herself to emulate the Twi'lek's lekku (the tendrils that flow from her head like hair) and has added a bunch of elements to make it seem like she's ready to take flight. Her handkerchief around her neck is riddled in rebel symbols, droids, and lightsabers. The pocket on her orange jumpsuit has a pin of Hera's face and a Funko Pop! figure of Chopper, Hera's droid.
