A new Star Trek: The Next Generation comic series will return to the Mirror Universe.

IDW Publishing will release Star Trek: The Mirror War in September, beginning with Star Trek: The Mirror War #0 written by Scott and David Tipton and illustrated by Carlos Nieto. The series will follow an alternate universe version of Jean-Luc Picard as he cuts a bloody path of conquest across the Mirror Universe, coming into conflict with the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. The Mirror War will also consist of a six-issue miniseries and four one-shots, which also feature the same creative team.

"We’re absolutely thrilled to return to the Mirror Universe," Scott Tipton said. "What’s in store for our Mirror Jean-Luc Picard and his Enterprise crew? New faces, new places, and old grudges. Picard’s ambitions are grander than ever, and nothing short of the throne itself will satisfy him!"

"In The Mirror War, we’ll be seeing what happens when Picard gets hold of information that can change the fortunes of the debilitated Terran Empire," David Tipton added. "The Enterprise crew will find themselves in positions of potential power and wealth like never before."

The Tiptons previously wrote Star Trek: The Next Generation -- Mirror Broken, along with the sequel series Through the Mirror and Terra Incognita. The series explored the Mirrorverse's Jean-Luc Picard rise to power and his encounters with the main universe version of Picard and the Enterprise crew.

Written by David and Scott Tipton and illustrated by Carlos Nieto, Star Trek: The Mirror War #0 goes on sale in September from IDW Publishing.
