At Comic-Con International in San Diego, CBS All-Access unveiled a trailer for the next series of Star Trek: Short Treks.
Fan-favorite Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 cast members Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck will all return as Captain Pike, Number One and Spock, respectively, in the anthology series.
The trailer for the upcoming series also teases an appearance from Tribbles, the iconic, furry little creature who've been plaguing the crew of the Enterprise since Star Trek: The Original Series. Archer star H. Jon Benjamin will also make an appearance as a Starfleet officer who makes a discovery involving the Tribbles.
In another one of the episodes, Spock and Number One appear to get stuck together in a turbolift, where they find themselves passing the time.
The episode titles for the upcoming season were also revealed. They include "Q&A," "Ask Not," "Children of Mars," "The Girl Who Made the Stars," "Ephaim and Dot" and "The Trouble with Edward."
As revealed during the Star Trek Universe panel, the upcoming Short Trek series will feature three new stories about Pike and his crew. There will also be two animated Short Trek episodes, and another live-action episode that serves as a teaser for the upcoming Picard series.
"It'll give background for what happened to Picard 15 years before the new show picks up," said Alex Kurtzman, Star Trek executive producer.
Released on the CBS All-Access streaming service in between seasons of the show proper, Short Treks are abbreviated episodes that offer brief glimpses into characters and stories from around the Star Trek universe.
The next season of Star Trek: Short Treks will debut on CBS All-Access later this year.
