While the highly-anticipated second season of Star Trek: Discovery is still months away from release, CBS All Access has announced an official release date for its latest venture into the Star Trek universe. The streaming network has revealed that Star Trek: Short Treks, which will be comprised of four mini-episodes focusing on specific character from Discovery, will premiere on Thursday Oct. 4.

According to Deadline, the first episode, titled "Runaway," will star Mary Wiseman's fan-favorite character, Ensign Tilly. Then, a month later, the second episode, titled "Calypso," will release on Nov. 8 and star a new character named Craft, played by actor Aldis Hodge.

The third episode of the miniseries, "The Brightest Star," will then drop on Dec. 6 and feature Doug Jones' Saru. Finally, the final entry will arrive in the new year, on Jan. 3. Titled "The Escape Artist," it will feature the return of Rainn Wilson as Harry Mudd in an episode directed by the actor.

Runaway – Thursday, Oct. 4

Onboard the U.S.S. Discovery, Ensign Tilly (Mary Wiseman) encounters an unexpected visitor in need of help. However, this unlikely pair may have more in common than meets the eye.

Calypso – Thursday, Nov. 8

After waking up in an unfamiliar sickbay, Craft (Aldis Hodge) finds himself on board a deserted ship, and his only companion and hope for survival is an A.I. computer interface.

The Brightest Star – Thursday, Dec. 6

Before he was the first Kelpien to join Starfleet, Saru (Doug Jones) lived a simple life on his home planet of Kaminar with his father and sister. Young Saru, full of ingenuity and a level of curiosity uncommon among his people, yearns to find out what lies beyond his village, leading him on an unexpected path.

The Escape Artist – Thursday, Jan. 3

Harry Mudd (Rainn Wilson), back to his old tricks of stealing and double-dealing, finds himself in a precarious position aboard a hostile ship – just in time to try out his latest con.

Returning in 2019 on CBS All Access, Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, Mary Chieffo, and Anson Mount. The first season will be released on Blu-ray on November 13. A new Star Trek series starring Sir Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard has also been announced, although there is no release date yet.
