Jonathan Frakes recently returned to the iconic role of William Riker in the first season of Star Trek: Picard. However, according to Frakes, it wasn't as easy as it looked.

During GalaxyCon, Frakes spoke about returning to the role and once again working with Patrick Stewart and Marina Sirtis. "It was a thrill to be asked back as an actor...nerve-wracking, but a thrill," he said. "I thought Marina was astounding. When Patrick came to our home in 'Nepenthe,' spectacular."

Frakes also admitted that he was "a nervous wreck" about returning to his role, especially as his co-stars had been working frequently on other projects. He offered a word of caution to fans: "don’t let anybody tell you it’s like getting back on a bike. That’s bulls--t. That’s acting bulls--t."

Despite being nervous, Frakes said he was thankful for the opportunity to return to the Star Trek universe; he had directed episodes of Picard, as well as Discovery, and he even hinted he would be directing a future Star Trek project.

Riker returned in Season 1, Episode 7, "Nepenthe," where he and his wife Deanna Troi gave shelter to Picard and his crew. He also appeared in the season finale, "Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2," leading a Starfleet armada.
