Following hot on the heels of Star Trek Online: Shadow's Advance, Cryptics Studios announces the next installment for its MMORPG with Stormfall.

At the Star Trek: Mission Chicago panel today, Cryptic Studios revealed Stormfall as the next major update for Star Trek Online. Following directly from the events of "Red Shift," the last episode of the previous game update Shadow's Advance, Stormfall sees Captains sent on a rescue mission in the Mirror Universe alongside several famous characters from the Star Trek TV series. Admiral Janeway, Admiral Leeta, and an Andorian rebel named "Rae-Yeet" as well as other key characters, join the Captain in stopping the Terren Forces led by Captain Killy from "reawakening a dangerous nemesis."

At the end of "Red Shift," players discovered the missing individual they've been looking for is actually Lieutenant Ilia from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Stormfall sees Captains sent on a mission by Admiral Janeway, voiced by Kate Mugrew from Star Trek: Voyager, to rescue Ilia from a Terran Space Dock. The lieutenant informs the Captain that the Terren Forces, led by Star Trek: Discovery's Captain Killy and voiced by Mary Wiseman, are trying to resurrect an old adversary. Admiral Leeta, voiced by Chase Masterson from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Rae-Yeet, voiced by Noah Averbach-Katz from Star Trek: Discovery, join the Captain and Illa to prevent the catastrophe.

Along with two brand new episodes, Stormfell introduces a remaster of the Starfleet tutorial, a new 5-player ground Task Force Operation and additional features for players to discover. The updated tutorial adds upgraded textures, new environments, and more interactions with the Borg and Admiral Janeway. Captains can also earn a special reward by playing through the new content. Additional information will be revealed when the game officially releases on Epic Games Store, Steam and Arc Games on May 10.

Released in 2009, Star Trek Online allows players to explore the world of Star Trek as Captains of their own vessels in a free-to-play massively multiplayer online roleplaying game. As a Captain of their own Federation starship, players can take on the role of an exploring Klingon Warrior, be the commander of a Romulan Republic Warbird, or a Jem'Hadar soldier loyal to the Dominion. Star Trek Online celebrated 11 years of gameplay last year by partnering with Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Star Trek Online: Stormfall will be released on May 10 for PC and on consoles in June.
