As a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, James McAvoy spoke about a recent Star Trek parody he was a part of. He also confessed that he is more than open to taking on the role of Star Trek's Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

McAvoy, known for his role as a young Charles Xavier in the X-Men films, is no stranger to being Patrick Stewart's successor. Stewart originated the Xavier role in 2000's X-Men. After Stewart recently reprised his role as Jean-Luc Picard in CBS All Access's Star Trek: Picard, fans began to joke that McAvoy could once again play a younger version of Stewart.

In response to fan speculation and teasing, McAvoy filmed a homemade Star Trek parody titled Star Force, in which he plays Captain Picard. The 12-minute video was filmed during the coronavirus pandemic, featuring each actor filming segments within their own homes.

When McAvoy appeared on The Tonight Show on July 15, Fallon couldn't help but ask if McAvoy's parody might ever come to life. McAvoy responded, "Jimmy, that is the only world that exists in which I will play Jean-Luc Picard. If they don't hire me, I'm gonna make it on my phone... I'm calling it right now, I'm doing the virtual lockdown equivalent of rubbing my scent all over Patrick's face and saying this territory is mine. All the other bald actors can f*** off, it's me."

Star Trek: Picard stars Patrick Stewart, Alison Pill, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway. The first season is available on CBS All Access.
