Star Trek Into Darkness Beams Up Its First Clip

AOL has debuted the first clip from J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness, featuring a tense Enterprise crew desperate to rescue Zachary Quinto's Spock from an active volcano while he cautions them against violating the Prime Directive by revealing the ship to an alien culture.

In a nod to Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, Spock even utters the immortal words, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."

Star Trek Into Darkness, which opens May 17, also stars Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Benedict Cumberbatch, Bruce Greenwood, Alice Eve and Peter Weller.

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness.
