Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery premiered on CBS All Access last week and the premium streaming service has made the first episode of the new season available online to those without a subscription.
Posted on the platform's official YouTube channel, fans without subscription can stream the premiere episode for free. The new episode is only available on YouTube to viewers in the United States as CBS has an exclusive agreement with Netflix to stream Discovery outside of the United States.
CBS had similarly made the series premiere available online for free in 2017 to help entice viewers impressed by the first episode to subscribe for the then-new service.
With a new captain at the helm in Anson Mount's Christopher Pike, the new season marks a noticeable change for the Star Trek series as it moves, ever boldly, forward.
Streaming on CBS All Access, Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 stars Sonequa Martin-Green as Commander Michael Burnham, Doug Jones as Commander Saru, Anthony Rapp as Lt. Commander Paul Stamets, Mary Wiseman as Ensign Sylvia Tilly, Shazad Latif as Ash Tyler, Wilson Crz as Dr. Hugh Culber, Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Mary Chieffo as L'Rell, Tig Notaro as Chief Engineer Reno, Ethan Peck as Spock, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou.
