Star Trek: Discovery Announces Season 2 Premiere Date

Star Trek: Discovery will move to a new night when it returns for a second season in January 2019 on CBS All Access.

Star Trek: Discovery will return for its second season Thursday, Jan. 17, on CBS All Access. The move from Sundays was announced this afternoon during the show's panel at New York Comic Con.

In addition to the introduction of Anson Mount as Christopher Pike, captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, and Ethan Peck as a young Spock, it was revealed during the panel that the second second will see the return of Michelle Yeoh as Georgiou.

Yeoh guest-starred as Philippa Georgiou, captain of the U.S.S. Shenzhou and mentor to Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), who died in the Battle of the Binary Stars, which set the events of Season 1 into motion. However, she returned to the series as her Georgiou's Mirror Universe counterpart, the fearsome emperor of the Terran Empire. After Emperor Georgiou escaped to the prime universe, she struck a deal with the Federation to allow her to go free in exchange for her assistance in the brutal war against the Klingons.

Yeoh hinted during the NYCC panel that Georgiou is "intrigued" to learn more about Section 31, the Starfleet black-ops division that's seemingly lurked in the shadows of Discovery, and fueled more than a few fan theories.

Returning Thursday, Jan. 17, on CBS All Access, Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, Mary Chieffo, Anson Mount and Michelle Yeoh.
