Next year's second season of Star Trek: Discovery on CBS All Access will see the return of fan-favorite character Harry Mudd as played by guest star Rainn Wilson.
Wilson confirmed his return for Season 2 on his Twitter account posing with two individuals made up as Orions from the genre-defining sci-fi series, Wilson already sporting the character's recognizable facial hair.
Wilson also teased a future announcement slated for this Thursday perhaps suggesting the character could be the subject of the upcoming Star Trek: Short Treks. The online spinoff on CBS All Access is slated to premiere before the end of the year with ten to fifteen mini episodes each spotlighting a different character.
The Discovery spinoff will air across four monthly installments ahead of the return of the second season of the main series sometime next year.
As a character that appeared on two episodes of the original 1960s series (Played by guest star Roger C. Carmel), a younger version of the interstellar grifter appeared on two episodes of Season 1 of Discovery. Last seen escaping captivity from the Klingon Empire, it will be interesting to see what the con man is up to next.
Returning in 2019 on CBS All Access, Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Wilson Cruz, Mary Chieffo, and Anson Mount. The first season will be released on Blu-ray on November 13.
