With Star Trek: Discovery returning for its second season on CBS All Access in less than two weeks, a new promo focuses on the series new commanding officer, Captain Christopher Pike.

The behind-the-scenes featurette shows Anson Mount taking on the role previously portrayed by Jeffrey Hunter in the original series and Bruce Greenwood in the J.J. Abrams-helmed rebooted timeline. Describing playing the character "an honor," Mount's Pike takes command of the Discovery aware that the crew was betrayed by their previous captain in the first season.

"Starfleet is a promise. I give my life for you, you give your life for me. And nobody gets left behind," declares Pike as he takes the captain's chair on the bridge.

Charming, adventurous and self-aware, the promo shows the Discovery's new captain demonstrating a willingness to embrace the same dangers facing his crew and a sly sense of humor to help win their trust.
