WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, Episode 2, "Far From Home," now streaming on CBS All Access.

While Michael Burnham time-traveled to the year 3188 in the Season 3 premiere of Star Trek: Discovery, her crew was nowhere to be found, even though they were supposed to be right behind her. Now, in the series' latest episode, "Far From Home," the U.S.S. Discovery finally arrives in the future, a full year later. However, it's not exactly a warm welcome, and travelling through a wormhole takes a toll on the ship, effectively shutting it down. Luckily, Lieutenant Keyla Detmer is able to land the ship and save  the lives of everyone onboard. Still, the crash landing results in plenty of injuries, and Detmer herself is badly injured, which could be the start of a very big problem.

Lieutenant Keyla Detmer has been a part of the U.S.S. Discovery crew since the series' first season and is the ship's helm officer/pilot. In "Far From Home," Detmer is able to land the ship, which only has minimal power, on an icy planet called The Colony. The crew immediately embarks on a race against time to get the ship back up and running, lest they be consumed by parasitic ice. Everyone who can work on fixing the ship does, while those injured are sent to sickbay.

But the landing left its mark on Detmer, who has a bad cut on the side of her face. She also appears shaken by the entire ordeal, and Saru orders her to get her wound treated, so that's what she does. Once she arrives at sickbay, Detmer is treated by one of the medical officers. Her wound is patched up rapidly, and she's cleared to resume her duties. However, all might not be right with Detmer, as she gets stuck in a daze from which she needs to be snapped out at several points in the episode.

Just what's wrong with Detmer isn't totally clear. Her wound was healed, which means she shouldn't be reeling from it anymore. However, since the wound was located near her cybernetic implant, it's possible that device was somehow affected, and that is what is sending her into a daze. Still, that's something the medical officers would surely be able to pick up on in their diagnosis, so something else might be going on.

Perhaps this is a result of her implant adjusting to the future. After all, there is still much we don't know about the 32nd century, an era that is mostly Starfleet-free. Clearly, something happened to Detmer in-between the ship's trip through time and hopefully, the helm officer won't wait too long to bring it up. If not, this could be the prelude to a much larger catastrophe later on.

Streaming on CBS All Access, Star Trek: Discovery stars Sonequa Martin-Green as Commander Michael Burnham, Doug Jones as Commander Saru, Anthony Rapp as Lt.
