With the Season 2 premiere of Star Trek: Discovery a little over a month away, the CBS All Access series has released a new trailer showing its characters facing danger and intrigue as they explore the cosmos.

The latest trailer reveals Ethan Peck's Spock in a more emotionally charged performance than Leonard Nimoy's iconic depiction of the character, with the half-Vulcan seen arguing with his adopted sister Michael Burnham.

The season will see the crew investigate the arrival of the mysterious Red Angel, a powerful being capable of triggering crimson bursts; Spock is concerned the figure may end all sentient life in the galaxy. To mark the series' return, CBS has also released a new piece of key art promoting the sophomore season.

Also seen is the return of Michelle Yeoh as her Mirror Universe counterpart Philippa Georgiou, who has become enrolled in Starfleet's top secret military branch Section 31. While Anson Mount's Captain Christopher Pike seems enthusiastic about Georgiou's appointment, Burnham appears apprehensive, given her dealings with the Mirror Universe in the first season.
