Principal photography has wrapped on "Star Trek Beyond," director Justin Lin's sequel to "Star Trek Into Darkness."

Star and co-writer Simon Pegg made the announcement this afternoon on Twitter, posting a photo of himself with collaborator Doug Jung, accompanied by the test, "That's a wrap on Star Trek Beyond! Writers, Doug Jung and Simon Pegg consider life after Trek."

Note that Pegg is actually wearing a "Star Wars" hat. (Pegg, of course, has an undisclosed role in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and director J.J. Abrams has referred to him as his "sounding board.")

As is the case with that “Star Wars” sequel, little is known about “Star Trek Beyond.” We know that Idris Elba plays the primary antagonist, whom Pegg has confirmed isn’t a Klingon. Elba has only said the villain will be “groundbreaking for the franchise.” And that’s pretty much all we know, really.

Opening July 22, 2016, “Star Trek Beyond” also features returning stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho and Anton Yelchin.
