'Star Trek' beams up its own MAC cosmetics line

Set phasers on stunning, because Star Trek is getting a cosmetics line in celebration of the franchise's 50th anniversary.

Announced by MAC Cosmetics, the 25-piece special deco collection features lipstick, eyeshadow, nail polish and other products inspired by Deanna Troi, Uhura, Seven of Nine and Vina the Orion slave girl.

Star Trek is an iconic pop culture phenomenon whose storylines pushed gender and racial boundaries,” James Gager, MAC's creative director, said in a statement. “For its 50th anniversary, we celebrate each of Star Trek’s powerful women in a transcending, transformational makeup collection.”

The collection will debut July 21 at Comic-Con International in San Diego at the MAC Cosmetics store in the Gaslamp Quarter before arriving online Aug. 25 and at retailers Sept. 1.

MAC previously introduced Archie Comics and The Simpsons cosmetics collections during Comic-Con.
