Stanley Tucci Joins <i>Captain America</i> As Creator Of Super-Soldier Serum

Marvel Studios has confirmed that Julie & Julia co-star Stanley Tucci will play Dr. Abraham Erskine in Captain America: The First Avenger, Heat Vision reports.

Erskine is the scientist who in the 1940s created the Super-Soldier Serum that transformed Steve Rogers into Captain America. In the comics, Erskine was killed by a Nazi agent during Rogers' procedure.

Tucci, who also appeared in The Lovely Bones, ER and Murder One, joins Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving and Hayley Atwell in the Joe Johnston-directed adaptation. Captain America: The First Avenger is due in theaters on July 22, 2011.
