"Realm," a joint production from Stan Lee Global Entertainment and Fundamental Films, has cast Chinese actress Li Bingbing as its star. Though no details have been released about the plot, the film will be based off an original idea by Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bingbing will play a superhero.

"What a kick it has been to create our first Chinese female superhero, and an empowering one at that," Lee said in a statement. "It has been such a fun experience bringing to life an international woman character, and the ability to do so has been different from anything we've ever done! I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it."

Binbing's past credits include "Resident Evil: Retribution" and "Transformers: Age of Extinction."

"The Three Muskateers" scribe Alex Litvak will pen the screeplay, while Bingbing, Gill Champion and Gregory Ouanhon produce. Gary Glushon is attached as executive producer.
