The late Stan Lee is not only a comic book icon, but one in pop culture as a whole. His influence has stretched across many mediums, including films, television and books. He created some of the most famous superheroes and has appeared in almost every Marvel Studios film to date. His last appearance, in fact, was in Avengers: Endgame.

Lee passed away last November at the age of 95, prompting some dedicated fans to petition for a memorial statue in his home town of New York City. The fans started a Change.org petition is hopes of getting to 75,000 signatures. With how quickly the petition is gaining signatures, it won't take long for them to reach their goal.

"I’m starting this petition, because I have enjoyed and respected his work, like many others over the years, and think a statue in his honour would be right for keeping his memory alive," wrote David Gourlay, the fan who started the petition.

Lee was born in Manhattan on December 28, 1922 and lived in the city until the early 1980s, when he moved to Los Angeles with his wife Joan. Joan passed away not long before Stan on July 6, 2017. Stan and Joan Lee are survived by their daughter J.C.
