Posted on the Twitter account of the X-Men spinoff, the image was presumably taken in April, when Lee filmed his cameo for the Bryan Singer-directed pilot episode. As Singer noted at the time, it was the third cameo they've shot together, following 2000's X-Men and 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse.

Although Lee has appeared in more than live-action 30 films (and counting) based on Marvel Comics characters, his television cameos are relatively rare. the 1989 TV movie The Trial of the Incredible Hulk, and one episode each of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. His presence of Marvel's Netflix dramas has been limited to that of a photograph of a New York City police officer.
