Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently revealed he had spoke to Lee a couple of months ago, and he had hopes Lee would be able to star in his own film someday soon. A lead role would have been the cherry atop a long run of cameos in Marvel Cinematic Universe films that always delighted viewers.

For now, fans can find solace in knowing there are still a couple of rumored cameo appearances that were filmed during Lee's life. According to director Joe Russo audiences should keep an eye open for the man himself in the upcoming sequel to Avengers: Infinity War in April 2019. There may also be a glimpse of Lee in Captain Marvel, which debuts on March 8.

A private funeral was held for Lee on Nov. 16 in accordance with his wishes to be surrounded only by his closest family and friends, though public tributes from fans and those who worked with him continue to pour in. Lee's death certificate indicates he was cremated and was laid to rest by his daughter, J.C.
