In all of her comedy-driven silliness, Squirrel Girl has built up a reputation as one of Marvel's most wholesome characters. Someone who debuted in the comics three decades ago as a one-off joke has miraculously resurfaced in recent years as a fan favorite with her very own series.

Given her relentlessly good-hearted nature, she has traditionally always been game to partner up with some of the best superheroes while also being willing to bring the good out of the worst villains. Her friendliness rivals even everyone's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and her eagerness to team-up with anyone and everyone has led to some surprising team-ups over the years.

10 Debuted Alongside Iron Man

Squirrel Girl actually introduced herself to Marvel audiences with a major team-up right off the bat. In her debut appearance in 1991's Marvel Super-Heroes #8 by Steve Ditko and Will Murray, she met Iron Man hoping to convince him to let her become his crime-fighting partner.

Unsurprisingly, he dismissed her completely, until she played a pivotal role in not only saving Iron Man's life after he was captured by Doctor Doom, but she was able to compile her horde of critters to defeat Doom in the long run.

9 Loki Saves Her & The World

By the time The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl reaches its eighth issue, written by Ryan North with art by Erica Henderson, Loki is already on a new journey in Marvel's canon to turning over a new leaf as a good guy. Only there's one problem: He forgot that he released the evil Ratatoskr squirrel ages ago for an evil plan that he never followed through on.

Committed to fixing the mess that he made, he helps the two Thors and Squirrel Girl dispose of the evil squirrel. While Squirrel Girl delivers a diversionary speech, Ratatoskr is too distracted to focus on her Bifrost blocker keeping her on Midgard. Knowing this, Loki summons Bifrost and sends the former Girl Squirrel right back to Asgardian containment.

In the same issue, knowing that Ratatoskr derived from Norse mythology (thanks to Wikipedia of all things), Squirrel Girl decided to call on for help her pal Thor Odinson from The Avengers. By this point, Thor is deemed unworthy to hold Mjolnir, so Squirrel Girl also gets to gain some help from the then-new Thor; a role filled at the time by Jane Foster.

This was especially a delight for Squirrel Girl's best friend Nancy, who spent her spare time writing Cat Thor fanfiction— which chronicled the life and career of Thor, but as a cat.

7 Saving The Thing With Trash

In Dan Slott and Kieron Dwyer's The Thing #8, the titular title character holds the biggest superhero poker game party anyone could possibly ask to see, but to every hero's surprise, the obscure Squirrel Girl is invited. When asked how they even know each other, they recall a time when Squirrel Girl lent a hand to The Thing when he took on Bi-Beast.

When she had her woodland critters scrunch up some trash that both of Bi-Beast's noses struggled to tolerate, it left him wide open for a knockout shot by the Fantastic Four member.

6 Bickering Crossover With Howard The Duck

Naturally, Squirrel Girl is no stranger to teaming up with animal hybrid character, with frequent partners being Koi Boi and Chipmunk Hunk. BBut in 2016, she had a two-part "Animal House" crossover— written by Chip Zdarsky and Ryan North with artwork byErica Henderson, Chip Zdarsky, and Joe Quinones— with none other than the infamous Howard the Duck.

The parts were spread across The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #6 and Howard the Duck #6. As fans and regular readers of both characters' work may have figured out, both went through some expected bickering due to having such differing personalities, but by the end, they were able to work together to stop a common threat.

5 Converting Kraven The Hunter Into A Hero Vigilante

Some readers who have not yet read up on The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl may be scratching their heads now at Kraven the Hunter's inclusion, knowing that he is notoriously a villain. However, Squirrel Girl helps Kraven start the process of becoming a redeemed hero when she suggests that he start hunting evil, rare underwater creatures.

He takes her advice to heart, but as the series progress, after teaming up with Squirrel Girl and Howard the Duck to take down a ruthless poacher, he starts dedicating his life to becoming a hunter of hunters, rebranding himself as The Unhuntable Sergei.

4 Ratatoskr (AKA Girl Squirrel)

Ratatoskr is another reformed villain who Squirrel Girl was able to convert. The two first met when Ratatoskr was masquerading on earth as a superhero squirrel— appropriately named Girl Squirrel— but as mentioned earlier, she was exposed as a villain who Squirrel Girl stopped with the help of Loki.

Ratatoskr resurfaces a few issues later, but this time, her and Squirrel Girl are forced to work together to stop Malekith from submitting the planet to his order during the War of the Realms. By the time they succeed, Squirrel Girl's influence genuinely reforms Ratatoskr to become a full-time hero.

3 Did She Date Wolverine?

Actually, Squirrel Girl and Wolverine's team-up may have been a little bit more than just fighting bad guys. They have shared brief meetings in the comics, but whenever they do exchange dialogue, they allude to a past that hints at some non-crimefighting-related rendezvous.

During their first in-panel meeting, they bring up the fact that they had agreed to never see each other again and were shocked to see that both were members of The Avengers. They also exchanged "you look well" type of awkward dialogue that can only be shared between past lovers. However, since it's all subtext, nothing's been confirmed.

2 Teaching Hulk How To Dodge

Shortly after her initial encounter with Iron Man, Squirrel Girl then crossed paths with the Incredible Hulk. Or, rather, the Hulk crossed paths with Squirrel Girl when he crash-landed near her treehouse during a fight with The Abomination.

The crash led to the Hulk suffering a concussion, making his defensive skills more or less useless and nonexistent during the fight. Squirrel Girl was kind enough to help coach Hulk on where to punch, dodge, and jump away until he finally slew the beast for good.

1 Teaming With Deadpool After Beating Him Up

There was a point once where Deadpool not only teamed up with Squirrel Girl but the entire Great Lakes Initiative (formerly Great Lakes Champions, formerly Great Lakes X-Men, formerly Great Lakes Avengers; this team went through a lot of name changes). The occasion occurred in Fabian Nicieza, Dan Slott, Clio Chiang, Paul Pelletier, Kieron Dwyer, and Nelson's Deadpool GLI - Summer Fun Spectacular, where they worked together to take down AIM agents.

What makes this team-up so surprising is that it comes shortly after Squirrel Girl and Deadpool fought in a fight where the former (unsurprisingly) beat the tar out of the latter.
