Japanese game developer Square Enix, arguably best known for the Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy series, has announced it will donate $250,000 to anti-racism charities after the death of George Floyd has sent many to the streets to protest police brutality.
"Everyone at Square Enix's offices and studios across the globe stands with our Black community in the fight against racism, prejudice and hate," Square Enix tweeted. "We are pledging $250,000 and will match employee donations to support the Black Lives Matter organization and other charities, in the effort to combat racial injustice and positively affect change in the world."
The second part of the thread provided links to various websites that raise awareness of the Black Lives Matter movement, racial inequality and the actions one can take to fight against racism across the globe. "For those who will join in a commitment to listen, learn & take actionable steps, we're using our platform to provide helpful resources," the company added.
Protests started in Minnesota, where Floyd lost his life, and quickly erupted across the country and even the globe.
