Many fans have praised CloverWorks and Wit Studio's faithful adaptation of Spy x Family, but little did they know that these two studios fought and won against 18 other studios for the right to animate it.

As reported by Anime News Network, George Wada, the president of Wit Studio and the chief executive producer of Spy x Family, revealed at Anime NYC that his studio was among twenty other studios competing for the chance to turn the Spy x Family manga into an anime. Wit Studio and CloverWorks ended up winning the bid and worked together to bring the series to animated life. In an environment as fast-paced as the anime industry, Wada said that the two studios collaborated to ensure the production ran smoothly with as few delays as possible. He says that he hopes fans appreciate both studios' hard work in adapting Spy x Family so that they can collaborate more in the future.

Wada Revealed More About Spy x Family

Moreover, Wada revealed some additional details about the anime's production, including his theory on why Anya is so loved. He cited Baby Yoda as a possible reason since the two are quite similar to each other. Wada said Wit Studio did the majority of the action sequences as the studio had experience with animation action scenes from working on the first three seasons of Attack on Titan and Seraph of the End.

Established in June 2012 by producers at Production I.G., Wit Studio's headquarters can be found in Musashino, Tokyo. Alongside Wada is Tetsuya Nakatake, the director of the studio. Other former Production I.G. employees followed Wada and Nakatake to Wit Studio. The first anime the studio worked on was Attack on Titan. It later went on to adapt The Ancient Magus' Bride, Vinland Saga, and Ranking of Kings.
