A new trailer of the highly-anticipated second cour of Spy x Family has just been dropped, giving fans a peek at what's to come.

As reported by Crunchyroll, Spy x Family released a brand new trailer for the upcoming second cour that is set to air on October 1 in Japan. The trailer introduces a dangerous situation where Loid Forger, alias Twilight, has to stop a young rebel from planting a bomb and causing a war. Things get even more frightening when Anya reads the mind of a mysterious dog, who has the power of foresight, and sees an ominous vision of Loid. It also revealed a snippet of the opening theme "SOUVENIR" sung by Japanese alternative rock group BUMP OF CHICKEN, who had previously participated in Karakuri Circus and Teasing Master Takagi-san: The Movie.

Spy x Family follows a seemingly normal family called the Forgers, consisting of psychiatrist Loid Forger, city worker Yor and their adorable six-year-old Anya. However, they're all hiding secrets: Loid is an agent named Twilight who is tasked with an important political mission; Yor is a highly accomplished assassin who goes by the alias Thorn Princess; and Anya, who previously escaped from an experimental facility, can read minds. The series follows the trio as they try to balance their double lives, all the while growing closer as a family.

Adapted in collaboration by Wit Studio and CloverWorks, Spy x Family's first cour aired from April to June with 12 episodes. The anime is directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, who also directed the 1999 version of Hunter x Hunter and the 2019 reboot of Dororo. Takuya Eguchi (Tokyo Revengers) voices Loid, Saori Hayami (Demon Slayer) voices Yor, and Atsumi Tanezaki (Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song) plays Anya.

Spy x Family's Overwhelming Popularity

Tatsuya Endo's manga debuted in March 2019 in Shōnen Jump+. Spy x Family was created from Endo's previous three one-shots for Jump Square, with the reception for the initial draft being so overwhelming positive that "serialization was practically decided" right away. As of August 2022, it has been reported that the Spy x Family manga has sold over 25 million copies -- an increase of 4 million copies since the last report in May. The manga has received critical acclaim for its comedic tone, Endo's artwork, and the wholesome family dynamic. Several volumes of the manga have ranked on The New York Times' monthly Graphic Books and Manga bestseller list.

The Spy x Family manga, which is released on a bi-weekly basis, is available to read in English digitally on the Shonen Jump and Manga Plus apps, as well as on VIZ Media in both digital and print formats.
