Spy x Family has released the closing credits for the second cour, hitting fans with all the feels.
TOHO animation's YouTube channel unveiled the closing credits sequence shortly after the release of Episode 13 of Spy x Family. After the first few seconds, the video takes on a single-take filming approach where the camera seamlessly swivels between scenes. Turning in a circle, the camera showcases different parts of the family home, such as Anya hugging Bond in the living room to Yuri and Yor in the living room. It even shows Loid talking to Fiona Frost in the dining room while Yor is making tea. In a wholesome display of their family life when it's just the three of them, Loid, Yor and Anya take to the kitchen to whip up a huge feast for dinner, with the food taking on Ghibli-level quality.
Colors Is a Whimsical Song That Fits the Animation
The closing song, "Shikisai" ("色彩"), which means "Colors" in English is sung by yama. With their beautiful vocal colors, yama sings about every day being a miracle and being strong. Takayuki Hirao (The Garden of Sinners: Paradox Spiral and Pompo: The Cinéphile) directed and storyboarded the new ending. Previously, Spy x Family unveiled the opening credits song, a beautiful sequence featuring the Forgers as they went on a family outing, ahead of its second cour premiere.
Wit Studio and CloverWorks, who have produced acclaimed works such as Attack on Titan and Wonder Egg Priority, respectively, came together to produce Spy x Family. Directing the anime is Kazuhiro Furuhashi, who has credits in the 1999 series Hunter x Hunter and the 2019 reboot Dororo. Joining him are Kazuaki Shimada, who is in charge of the character designs, and [K]NoW_NAME, the music producer.
The first part of the anime aired in April and attained high TV ratings during its airing. Spy x Family published a guidebook called Animation x 1st Mission includes storyboards, key animations, interviews and comments from both the staff and voice actors. In September, the anime released another guide book called Mission Report:220409-0625, which included more details about the first 12 episodes of the animes and interviews and comments from Official HIGE DANdism, who sang the opening "Mixed Nuts" and Gen Hoshino who sang "Comedy."
Tatsuya Endo's manga series took the anime and manga world by storm when the series debuted in March 2019. Endo's story about a spy, assassin and child telepath who become part of a family struck a note in many people's hearts because of the artwork, humorous moments intertwined throughout and how heartfelt it was in the manga's portrayal of a found family. It was met with overwhelmingly positive reception and has over 25 million copies in circulation as of August. Serialized biweekly in Shōnen Jump+, the manga can be read in English on Viz Media or Manga Plus.
The second cour of Spy x Family premiered on Oct. 1 and can now be streamed on Crunchyroll.
