Spy x Family has announced the release dates for both Season 2 and its first animated film.
At Anime Japan 2023, Spy x Family held a panel where voice actors for the main characters joined to talk about the upcoming second season and film. There, the series confirmed Season 2 would premiere in October 2023. Spy x Family also unveiled the name, key visual and release date for the film, titled Spy x Family CODE: White, depicting the Forgers in a snowy setting. Spy x Family CODE: White premieres on Dec. 22, 2023.
The movie's key visual showcases the members of the Forger family, including Twilight pointing his gun with a grim look on his face. The Thorn Princess is on Loid's left side, brandishing her iconic golden thorn-like weapons. The hero of the series Anya and her trusty, furry sidekick, Bond, are centered at the forefront of the poster and prepared to save the day once again. Below is a snowy mountain range with a train rattling past brightly-lit buildings, hinting at the movie's setting.
Spy x Family Gets Its First Feature Film
Spy x Family first announced the movie in December 2022 at Jump Festa 2023. At the time, there was little information available other than that mangaka Tatsuya Endo would be supervising the original movie. To celebrate the reveal, Endo unveiled a new illustration, a lighthearted visual of the Forger family crammed into a small aircraft with Anya joyously yelling they were going on an "ooting to the movie theatre!" The confirmation of the second season's and movie's premiere dates aligns with what Tetsuya Nakatake, one of the co-founders of Wit Studio, said in February when he stated he hoped the two works will premiere in the fall.
Beloved by many, as evidenced by its high manga sales, Spy x Family follows the adventures of a family who holds many secrets. Loid Forger masquerades as a psychiatrist, his day job a front for his real career as a spy working to preserve the peace between Ostania and Westalis. His wife Yor, whom he has only recently met, is a city worker by day who assassinates targets at night. Their adopted daughter Anya has the toughest job of all: ensuring both parents don't know the other's secrets while concealing her telepathic ability from them. Even the Forger family dog Bond has his own secret: he can see into the future.
Wit Studio and CloverWorks collaborated to produce the anime adaptation, which premiered in April 2022, with the second cour airing in October.
The first season of Spy x Family is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
