The following contains spoilers for Spy x Family Season 1, Episode 16, "Yor's Kitchen/The Informant's Great Romance Plan," now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Since averting the assassination attempt on the Westalis Foreign Minister's life, the Forgers have been enjoying quieter days at their apartment. Still, one major concern has been weighing on Loid's mind: his wife Yor has been coming home late every night. Since they're not really a married couple and are only together by contract, Loid doesn't tend to ask Yor questions about her private life and activities. However, the moment he sees her come home with a somber look on her face and unexplained injuries on her hands, Loid can't help but take mental notes.

Anya is the first to greet Yor at the door, followed by Loid, who then asks her if he should start dinner. Surprisingly, Yor declines, stating she's not hungry, but tells her husband and adoptive daughter to go ahead and eat without her. As Yor makes it back into her room, Bond shares a premonition with Anya, showing her adoptive mother crying about something. Moments later, Yor is seen staring at her trembling hand the other side of her door. She expresses concern that if she fails at a certain role, she risks losing both Loid and Anya, as well as the life she had grown accustomed to.

At Yor's workplace the following day, Camilla and the rest of her coworkers say their goodbyes on their way home, but Yor herself isn't looking so good at her desk. She is later seen entering a grocery store with an ominous look on her face, though the exact nature of her visit is left ambiguous. When Yor is seen approaching a home much later in the evening, she once again looks ominously at the house, holding what appears to be a blood-dripping paper bag, After ringing the doorbell, however, the occupants are revealed to be her coworker Camilla and her husband.

At the door, Camilla yells at Yor about crushing the tomatoes again, effectively revealing the contents inside her paper bag. She also yells at her husband for telling Yor about her cooking abilities when she asked Camilla and her other coworkers if they could teach her how to cook three days prior. On that day, Yor had expressed concern about needing to improve her cooking skills as she still believes the breakfast she prepared for Loid during the Foreign Minister ordeal caused him to stay in the bathroom for hours. Since Loid is the Westalis spy known as Twilight, he hadn't revealed the truth of his absence to Yor.

Back in the present, Yor prepares to continue her cooking lessons with Camilla, though the latter remains unenthused about her current endeavor. Since Camilla's husband knows she's going to make him taste Yor's cooking, he takes the liberty of inviting her brother Yuri over to do the taste tests for him. When he arrives, however, Yuri is far from excited to learn his sister is attempting to learn how to cook for her husband, and hopes that her failure will result in her divorcing Loid. Ironically, Camilla expresses similar sentiments when Yor fails to learn the basics of preparing a meal, with the latter expressing not wanting a divorce.

Camilla reluctantly resumes her cooking lessons with Yor, though the dish she ends up with is less than savory. Rather than risk poisoning themselves, Camilla and her husband have Yuri taste her cooking. Though the latter expresses loving Yor's dish, Camilla and her husband know from the look on his face -- and his vomiting -- he thinks otherwise. Camilla then tries to teach Yor to cook a simpler dish like meatballs, but this too is a failure. Realizing Yor and Yuri grow up without parents, Camilla tries to get the siblings to remember their mother's cooking and attempt to replicate one of her famous stews they enjoyed as children.

While preparing the stew, Camilla expresses how much Yor has changed since she got married, noting that she appeared boring and robotic before. After the stew is finished, all four individuals gathered in the kitchen taste the soup, with Camilla stating it doesn't taste bad. Yuri similarly expresses the stew tastes good, but is still missing an ingredient. Upon asking where the siblings are from, Camilla adds sour cream to the stew since it is popular in the siblings' hometown of Eastern Nielsberg. This proves to be a success, and Yor returns home feeling a bit more confident about her culinary skills.

Back at the apartment, Yor decides to prepare the stew on her own for Loid and Anya, though both are cautious about eating it due to past bad experiences with her cooking. To their own surprise, however, they find that the soup is actually delicious and are eager to try her desert. The latter, however, isn't a success. Still, achieving this one major milestone produces feelings of happiness for Yor, indicating that she is growing past the need to maintain her family façade. Instead, she wants to be a real mother and wife to Anya and Loid since they validate her.

Sometime later, Loid is summoned to a secret meeting with Franky, only to learn he doesn't actually have intel for him. Instead, he tells Loid he met a woman that he's romantically interested in, and wants dating tips. Loid is not interested, but is eventually coerced into helping Franky after the latter threatens to sell his information to the Secret Police. At a café, Franky provides all the intel he has on a 25-year-old cigar shop employee named Monica McBride, though his in-depth knowledge of the woman causes Loid to accuse him of stalking.

Franky rebukes Loid's accusations by stating the latter stalks people all the time. Loid, however, clarifies he only does it when it's work related. Still, Franky insists on learning how to ask a woman out, which causes Loid to draw him a conversation chart based on everything they know about the woman. This overwhelms Franky, who then asks Loid for a simpler way to learn dating conversation skills. Loid then resorts to rehearing a potential conversation with Franky by disguising himself as Monica. When it's time for Franky to ask the woman out, Loid -- still disguised as Monica -- worries about the outcome of his endeavor.

The next day, Loid runs into Franky while out on a walk with Yor and Anya, and figures out from the look on his face that he's been turned down. Franky lies to Loid by saying his date went smoothly and heads to a bar to drown his sorrows in alcohol. He even rants to the bar tender about the shallowness of women only preferring good-looking men, not realizing that his entitlement behavior most likely drove the woman away. To his surprise, however, Loid appears at the bar as well and buys Franky an expensive drink. He admits he needs a drink as well because men like themselves can't form emotional attachments to others, possibly indicating part of him regrets his arrangement with Yor and Anya isn't permanent.
