Spy x Family introduced a frosty new character in this week's episode, and the character's voice actor has a few thoughts about her.
Ayane Sakura portrays Fiona Frost, Loid's colleague at the hospital and at WISE. As reported by Oricon News, Sakura sat down for an interview where she commented on Fiona. The voice actor said she had already been a fan of Tatsuya Endo's series before being cast, having read the manga from the first volume. After her audition, she reread Spy x Family again. When asked about her thoughts pertaining to her character, Sakura said that Fiona was charming but strange. Despite that, Sakura noted that Fiona was somehow adorable.
Sakura debuted as a voice actor in the fifth Keroro Gunso anime series film. Not only has Sakura voice acted, she has also performed opening and ending theme songs to a variety of her works such as Joshiraku and Is the Order a Rabbit. Her most notable role is playing Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia, Tsubaki Sawabe in Your Lie in April and Secre Swallowtail in Black Clover.
Fiona Will Become a Major Player
Fans only caught a brief glimpse of Fiona, alias Nightfall, in Episode 20 of Spy x Family, but she'll prove to be an important character later on in the series, rocking the balance of the Forger family. While Fiona tends to keep her face free of emotions, Anya will soon discover that there's more behind that expressionless facade. She idolizes Loid and wholeheartedly believes she is the only appropriate and capable person who can stand beside him as his partner.
Endo's work started its serialization in March 2019. Endo initially titled the zany action series Spy Family and added the "x," as the simplicity of Hunter x Hunter's title inspired the mangaka to take the same route. Spy x Family centers around the Forger family, comprised of a psychiatrist named Loid Forger, a city worker named Yor Briar and Eden Academy student Anya Forger. On the outside, the Forgers look like a normal family. However, what nobody knows, including Loid and Yor, is that they are hiding another part of their lives from each other. Loid is Agent Twilight, a top spy tasked to get close to Donovan Desmond for the sake of preserving world peace. At night, Yor turns into the Thorn Princess, an assassin working for a secret society. The only person who knows her parents' true identities is Anya, the four-year-old telepath who is utterly enamored with how cool her new family is. The anime received an adaptation jointly produced by CloverWorks and Wit Studio and aired its first cour in April.
Updated biweekly, Spy x Family is available to read on Viz Media or Manga Plus. The anime is currently in the middle of its second cour and is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
