Some new and adorable pieces of Spy x Family fan art reimagine the action-comedy series in the style of retro anime.

The images, which were posted on Twitter by freelance artist @hanavbara, showcase several iconic scenes from Spy x Family, including the moment Anya discovers to her overwhelming excitement that her adopted parents are a super spy and an assassin, in an art style similar to anime series that came out in the 1990s like Toei Animation's Sailor Moon. The aesthetic incorporates more intense, vibrant colors and cartoony features on the characters.

Based on the popular manga series of the same name by Tatsuya Endo, which has sold over 18 million copies worldwide as of writing, the Spy x Family series made its debut last month as part of the Spring 2022 anime season. Produced by CloverWorks (Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia) and Wit Studio (Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song), the story follows the often wacky adventures of the Forger family: Loid Forger, a surprisingly empathetic super spy, Yor, a caring but absented-mind young woman who is actually a deadly assassin, and Anya, a young girl with the ability to read minds. While the series is packed with action and intrigue, Spy x Family also features a myriad of wholesome family moments.

The anime is directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Rurouni Kenshin) and stars Atsumi Tanezaki (How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord) as Anya, Saori Hayami (Jujutsu Kaisen) as Yor and Takuya Eguchi (Ranking of Kings) as Loid. The English dub, which began airing on April 16, includes the voice talents of Alex Organ (My Hero Academia), Natalie Van Sistine (Girls' Frontline) and Megan Shipman (Dr. Stone) as the Forgers.

Recently, the fast-fashion brand Uniqlo announced a special collection based on Spy x Family. Starting June 3, four special t-shirts featuring the anime will be available in the company's stores. Moreover, a fan book for the series was recently released; it features guest illustrations from top manga artists like Attack on Titan's Hajime Isayama and Blue Exorcist's Kazue Kato.

Spy x Family is available to stream on Hulu and Crunchyroll.
