The following contains spoilers for Spy x Family Episode 3, “Prepare for the Interview,” now streaming on Crunchyroll.

Who would have thought that a family consisting of a spy, an assassin and a telepath would make a great team? In the latest episode of Spy x Family, Loid and his new wife Yor take Anya out for a family outing in an effort to build the appropriate levels of elegance required of Eden Academy students and their families: art galleries, opera houses, fancy restaurants -- the works. Unfortunately, their trip gets rudely interrupted.

It wasn't all for naught though. Even though the family outing wasn't quite what Loid envisioned, it showed just how well the three of them worked together, with nobody (except Anya) the wiser about their real identities. The Forgers may not be the conventional family, but they make a pretty cool crime-fighting one.

After Loid's original plans for the family outing failed, Yor suggested that the three of them get some fresh air. It was a nice bonding moment for them, but it didn't last for very long before they caught sight of a thief snatching an old woman's bag. Loid didn't think much of it except to give a passing pitying remark, but Yor didn't even hesitate before leaping over the viewing-point ledge and chasing after the thief. Assassins are often characterized as being cold-blooded, unblinking murderers, but that's not the case for Yor. Immediately after losing sight of the thief, she rushed back to check in on the old lady.

Ordinarily, Loid would have turned a blind eye to the situation -- spies aren't supposed to bring attention to themselves, otherwise it defeats the purpose -- but something awakened inside him when he saw Yor jump over the ledge, and his legs started moving without him realizing. By the time he found a spot to scan the crowd, the crafty thief had already blended in. Not even the world's best spy was able to pick out where the thief was in the milling crowd.

Loid was about to give up again, but Anya obviously wasn't going to let him do that. Quickly, she activated her telepathic skills to pick out the thief in the crowd, pointing him out by telling Loid that she wanted cake. Anya may not be the brightest crayon in the box, but she definitely has street smarts.

Loid immediately noticed that the man with the hat was walking in a particular way and correctly deduced it was the thief. Leaping over the ledge of the bridge just as Yor did a few minutes prior, Loid apprehended him. When the Forgers returned the purse to the old lady, she smiled, telling them that they made a lovely family.

Episode 2 had already demonstrated how well Yor and Loid work together when, for example, Yor intercepted the knife that had been aimed for Loid's back, but Episode 3 showed just how perfectly Yor, Loid and Anya can all work together. Although Yor wasn't able to demonstrate as much of her athletic abilities in this episode, she played a pivotal role in this situation. Without Yor, Loid would have never gone after the thief -- and without Anya, Loid would have never been able to find out where the thief was. It was only because the three of them worked together that they saved the day.

Loid is used to working alone and prefers it for the most part, as shown when he contemplated trying to complete Operation Strix by himself in Episode 1. While he's proven time and time again that he's one of the best spies when he's working by himself, this episode gave him the opportunity to see that he can be an even better spy when he has people he trusts beside him. He, Yor and Anya possess skills and abilities that play off perfectly against each other. What's more, having Yor and Anya with him makes his job less lonely. One thing is for sure: this won't be the last time that viewers will see the three of them working together.
