The following contains spoilers for Spy x Family Chapter 64 by Tatsuya Endo, now available in English through Viz Media.

One of the great things about Spy x Family is that it takes the time for readers to get acquainted with characters other than the Forger family. Last chapter, the readers got more of an insight into Handler's personality as Chapter 63 focused on a day in her life as a WISE agent. In Chapter 64, Anya gets some quality time with none other than Housemaster Henderson who tries to impart wisdom in his young student; the key word is 'tries'.

Anya is exceptionally popular amongst the fandom and what makes her such an endearing character to love is how she acts and talks exactly like how you'd expect a child her age to behave. Children at her age generally don't have a filter. Couple that with her telepathy, and you get a winning combination of hilarity and precociousness. Yor and Loid have already experienced some of Anya's bluntness. It only stands to reason that Henderson bore witness to it as well.

You have to give props to Henderson for trying his best to be a good teacher to Anya. Seeing Anya sitting with a blank expression at the bus stop after her bus got delayed, Henderson asked her to help him out with some school errands to which she very bluntly told him that she was busy doing nothing. It's a response that probably many kids have thought of or have said before when asked to do something by an adult, making her extremely relatable. Only the promise of tea cakes was enough to get her moving.

Henderson knew how devastating getting Tonitrus bolts can be for Eden students and seeing as how Anya had two bolts, he assumed that she'd be extremely upset. As her teacher, he saw it as his responsibility to comfort her. But not only was she not upset, she was hardly fazed by it. Upon realizing that her reaction wasn't the 'normal response' from reading Henderson's thoughts and seeing how embarrassed he was, Anya conceded that she was a little sad about the bolts.

Seeing his opportunity, Henderson attempted to reassure her that she shouldn't be discouraged by her bolts; some Imperial Scholars had as much as six bolts to their name before they became Imperial Scholars. He even offered to help her revise some wrong answers in yesterday's quiz, but Anya didn't see a need to stay at school any longer, especially after she ate her tea cakes.

Despite making little success with Anya in her academics, Henderson's success lies in being a guide to her. He knows that a majority of the students who aspire to become Imperial Scholars are usually because they want the prestige or because their parents want them to be Imperial Scholars. In the process, the values that the students learn, such as the importance of hard work and determination -- otherwise known as elegance, get lost. People are so focused on their end goal, they forget to value the journey. Henderson tells Anya that rather than focusing on earning Stella Stars, she should focus on building a foundation of personal values such as spirituality and self-respect.

As Henderson led her through Eden Academy's version of the Hall of Fame, Anya couldn't help but notice the similarities between her mission and the other students who had become Imperial Scholars. Every Imperial Scholar had worked incredibly hard in order to get to where they were and seeing that, Anya knew that she'd have to work a little harder every day in order to achieve her goal. Although she had told Henderson that she only wanted to become an Imperial Scholar because they looked cool -- to which Henderson nearly had a heart attack because it was an utterly shallow reason -- in actuality, she wanted to be one because she knew it would help with Loid's mission. Anya knew what the implications were: If Operation Strix succeeded then the Forger family would have to break apart.

It was after seeing how hard her parents were working between juggling their double lives that Anya resolved to work harder. When she was with Henderson, she had asked him, in a surprisingly vulnerable moment, if she could ever become an Imperial Scholar. It seemed like an impossible goal. Henderson had told her that this wasn't up to anyone but the student. Those words, along with seeing her parents, gave Anya the motivation to study on her own.
