The biggest issue that romance stories run into is misunderstandings. Often, characters that are romantically interested in each other end up in conflict because one character misunderstood a situation or wasn't able to communicate their feelings. This creates unnecessary drama that the story has to spend time resolving. Spy x Family avoids this issue in a wonderfully interesting way.

In the second episode of Spy X Family, Twilight and Yor almost fell victim to the misunderstanding trope in romance. When Yor and Twilight first met each other at the dress shop, the two of them were exactly what they were looking for. A connection was about to be made, but Yor decided against it because she thought that Twilight was already married. The perfect couple almost didn't get together, but Anya saved the day.

Loid and Yor staring at Anya pretending to be sad

Anya's ability to read minds allowed her to know Yor's thoughts. She used this information to let Yor know that Twilight was single and push the two of them together. Anya was Twilight's adorable wingman without anyone noticing. Her powers turned her into the perfect matchmaker. She always knows the true feelings of those around her and their secret desires, and she can use this information to resolve any misunderstandings or miscommunications that come up. This ability will be very useful considering her parents' professions.

Yor is a skilled assassin and Twilight is a professional spy. These jobs naturally require the ability to keep secrets and tell lies. Since both Twilight and Yor are keeping their true motives hidden from each other, there is bound to be conflict. Yor and Twilight will likely be trading lies and half-truths for the majority of the series. Luckily, Anya will be there to clear up any confusion when needed.

Another benefit to Anya's powers is that she can make sure that certain secrets stay hidden. If Yor or Twilight were to find out the other's real identities, it might lead to the downfall of their relationship. Anya can use her powers to misdirect her parents if one of them begins to catch on. Their telepathic daughter has her own secrets to hide as well, and it will likely be Anya's job in the series to make sure that the Forger family stays happy and ignorant of things that are best kept hidden. A daughter who can read minds is the perfect child for an assassin mother and a super-spy father.
