Sprinfield Student Wins Visit from Spider-Man

What: Third-grader John Kampmeyer, III and the entire student body at Scenic Hills Elementary School will be treated to a visit from Spider-Man, courtesy of Target and Marvel Comics. John was recently named the nationwide winner of the "Create-A-Comic" Marvelous Comic Book Contest for crafting a futuristic tale of an alien with super powers. In addition to a visit from Spider-Man, John's class and classmates will receive Target GiftCards. Moreover, the school library will receive a free subscription to select Marvel titles.

The "Create-A-Comic" Marvelous Comic Book Contest was created by Marvel Comics, Target and Cover Concepts. The concept reinforces the companies' "Reading to the Rescue" comic book project promoting literacy, which was distributed last Fall to more than 2.2 million students across the country. The winning entry and a showcase of state winners are posted on Target.com/teachers.

1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Spider-Man attends assembly for afternoon kindergarteners and 2nd graders

2:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.: Spider-Man and writer/artist from Marvel Comics attend assembly for 3rd and 4th graders
