SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Frank Miller, Brian Azzarello and Andy Kubert's "Dark Knight III: The Master Race" #5.
In "Dark Knight III" #5, Quar and the Kandorians think they've gotten rid of Superman for good, but they seriously underestimated Batman's ingenuity. Thanks to the combined efforts of Carrie Kelly, Aquaman and Batman, Superman has been freed from his prison -- he'd been encased in frozen magma since last issue -- and he's all-in to help take the Kandorians down.
However, Batman's plan involves a storm of synthetic Kryptonite, which means Superman needs a little help if he's going to take part -- and, boy, does the Dark Knight deliver. On the final page of the issue, Superman shows up wearing his own set of armor, which will protect him from the effects of the synthetic Kryptonite.
What's more, we see a genuine smile to Batman's face, regardless of the dire consequences! Which makes sense -- after all, it would appear that World's Finest are a team once more!
Frank Miller, Brian Azzarello and Andy Kubert's "Dark Knight III: The Master Race" #5 is now on sale.
