Spider-Man has faced so many threats that the character has had to become truly adaptable in what he wears. Sometimes, his regular costume isn't versatile, protective, or strong enough to take down the enemies he is trying to conquer. Thus, various armors have been deployed to help change the tide of battle.

All of them have appeared in the comics at some stage so while a couple might have been popularized via the PS4 Spider-Man video game series, or live-action inclusions, they are still canon to the page. They often boast their own unique gimmicks too, designed to neutralize a specific target.

10 Oscorp

Peter Parker's recent position working with Oscorp has been very beneficial in the costume department. Using the infinite scientific resources at his disposal, Spider-Man has been gifted an Oscorp armored suit from Norman Osborn, complete with Goblin-themed gadgets.

Not only does it continue to look like his classic costume with a few sci-fi additions, but it is also incredibly durable and contains a fantastic A.I. system. What's more, it links to a Spider-Glider and even boasts egg bombs similar to the jack-o-lanterns Green Goblin used to weaponize. It's been a valuable asset and has kept the web-head alive.

9 Iron Spider

As one of the most influential Marvel heroes in comic book history, Spider-Man has been at the center of some massive narratives. Civil War is a perfect example, with the Iron Spider armor getting a starring role throughout the conflict. The costume was a symbol of Peter's alliance with Iron Man.

The additional arms and armor plating gave Spidey an edge in battle and the A.I. system was one of the most advanced that the vigilante had ever used. Although the suit was repurposed for MVP clones, it continued to be featured with assets such as camouflage. It's a perfect suit for all scenarios.

8 2099

Spider-Man 2099 utilizes technology that the traditional Spidey could only dream of. With the suit being featured with additional metal plates, armoring, and various gadgetry enhancements, the full potential of the 2099 armor is currently unknown.

The future holds a lot of promise for how the heroes of tomorrow can be protected in the field. The armoring is far sleeker than anything Peter Parker could utilize as well, ensuring that Miguel O'Hara's agility isn't stunted by a bulky piece of kit. The suit can take quite the beating, demonstrating its long-term durability.

7 Spider-Mech

Iron Man is always inventing and the Hulkbuster armor provided inspiration for a new array of mech suits. The Avengers Mech Strike series put these armors into action, as the Earth's mightiest battled against Kaiju-like monsters and enhanced antagonists.

Spider-Man was among the group gifted with these state-of-the-art battle machines. While it might be bulkier than the character is used to and a little less agile, it still fires Spidey's trademark webbing meaning that he can go into the field with the gadgets he is most comfortable with.

6 Velocity

Some of the most underrated Spider-Man comics that deserve more attention are those that tie in to other video game and movie properties. Spider-Man: Velocity is a perfect example, with the comic narrative utilizing the Velocity armor seen in the PS4 title.

The costume featured in both is specifically curated to allow Spidey to pick up as much speed as possible. It's reinforced so that it can take the brunt of a hit, but it's also incredibly streamlined. The aerodynamic technology is top of the range and there is perhaps no better armor to go web-slinging in.

5 Superior

The Superior Spider-Man enters from his multiverse in The Amazing Spider-Man.

While the Superior Spider-Man storyline is equal parts beloved and controversial, one aspect that has always been praised is the costume. Doctor Octopus took over the web-head's mantle and designed an armor that combined elements of the villain's own look with that of Peter's.

The result was an incredible mix of armored gauntlets and powerful arms, linked with a sleek Spider-Man costume that utilized rare materials. It was a perfect display of ingenuity and inventiveness, with the armor giving Doc Ock an advantage that Peter rarely enjoyed.

4 Spider-Armor Mark I

The first-ever full Spider-Armor was crafted to take down a group of thugs that were using incredibly powerful firearms. It was specifically intended to protect Peter against these weapons, with the bullets bouncing off of the alloy armor with relative ease.

There were downsides to this design, including the weight of it which limited some of Peter's usual moves. However, that was more than made up for thanks to how protective it really was. Marvel made Spider-Man a lot stronger with the armor; a punch from this suit would have done a lot more damage.

3 Spider-Armor Mark II

Facing the villain Massacre, the second Spider-Armor was created to protect Peter against bullets after he had lost his Spider Sense. It came with his traditional webbing alongside magnetic additions that genuinely came in handy throughout the comic. The suit itself withstood all the firearms he was met with.

However, compared to the first version of the costume, other improvements were made. It was sleeker and more streamlined, allowing Peter to move a lot quicker. It was easier to dodge incoming fire within this suit, giving him an extra method of protection. The joints allowed for a great range of flexibility too.

2 Spider-Armor Mark III

Some of the darkest endings to Spider-Man's stories could have been avoided had the Mark III armor been in use. The suit was initially crafted to be a last resort, with the Sinister Six in mind. Not only is it one of the most well-guarded costumes, but it packs a mean punch too.

It was eventually brought out when Doctor Octopus was enacting his final plan; Spidey knew that he could hold nothing back. This is a fantastic suit, but Peter has perhaps never been more dangerous than when he is using this precise piece of equipment that has been optimized for the most threatening foes.

1 Spider-Armor Mark IV

Equipped with countless upgrades, from bug zappers to drones and even enhanced strength, the Mark IV is by far the most incredible armor that Spider-Man has worn. He designed it to allow others to step into the mantle, protecting his secret identity.

It therefore helps his allies mimic the powers of Spider-Man while adding to his own abilities in a complimentary manner. The advantages of every previous suit are encapsulated in this one design, and it's a surprise that Peter doesn't break it out a little more often, even after the fall of Parker Industries.
