After numerous teases, Marvel Comics' new mystery team featuring Angela, Blade, Winter Soldier, Spectrum, Hellstrom and Wiccan has finally been revealed. Spinning out of War of the Realms, Strikeforce #1 is written by Tini Howard and illustrated by German Peralta, with covers by Andrea Sorrentino.

Howard revealed the new series on her Twitter account with the issue's cover, which also reveals Spider-Woman as the final member of the team. It's worth noting that Jessica Drew is back to wearing her original Spider-Woman costume, and not the updated redesign from 2014 by artist Kris Anka.

"The Avengers have no idea how much danger they're in. And it's this team's job to make sure they never find out," Howard captioned with the cover reveal. "The team I got to hand pick from the toy box starts in September with STRIKEFORCE by me and @TheGermanP!

According to Howard's synopsis, Strikeforce sounds like it will be a covert team doing the dirty jobs so the Avengers can keep their hands clean. As for what could have the Avengers in danger, there are plenty of threats in the Marvel Universe, so the possibilities are endless.

The publisher has hyped this collection of heroes as “Marvel’s newest, most ruthless team,” which is quite a claim given that the Savage Avengers are running around right now.
