WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Spider-Verse #3 by Jed MacKay, Dike Ruan, Ian Herring and VC's Joe Sabino, on sale Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Fans of Sony's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse got some good news on the first day of November. The official Twitter account for the film announced the long-awaited sequel will land in theaters on April 8, 2022. The announcement was made with a frenetic teaser video with flashing lights and various symbols flashing across the screen, which possibly teased the inclusion of even more Spider heroes from across the multiverse.

Even though new characters are almost guaranteed to make their big-screen debuts, there is also the hope that heroes from the original film will also star in the sequel. One of those fan-favorite heroes from Into the Spider-Verse is Peni Parker, the young pilot of the robotic spider-suit Sp//dr. Peni and Sp//dr fought heroically in the climactic battle in Into the Spider-Verse, but Sp//dr would not live to make it to the end of the film.

Moviegoers may have to wait more than two years for the Into the Spider-Verse sequel, but Marvel Comics readers can get a small taste to whet their appetites with the Spider-Verse miniseries. Starring Miles Morales, the series follows the young Spider-Man as he travels to different Earths in search of Annie May Parker. The Web of Life and Destiny is coming undone, and if Miles can't find Annie May, it'll be gone forever.

A preview of Spider-Verse #3 takes Miles to Earth-14512 to team-up with Peni. A mysterious villain is launching bombs at them, but Peni is more concerned with the safety of her Earth's Daredevil, who is slowly dying.

The last few pages of the Spider-Verse #3 preview feature an unknown enemy attacking Miles and Peni. Of course, Peni's Uncle Ben is concerned for her, but she proves she is more than capable of taking care of herself. Whoever the villain is, he is able to hack into the Sp//dr suit's communication link to speak directly to Peni and Ben. These scenes are intertwined with Daredevil pulling some type of weapon out of his lower abdomen, which could be what is killing him.

We'd be remiss if we didn't mention how the Sp//dr suit is on full display, swinging through the sky alongside Miles Morales, along with sticking to the sides of skyscrapers. The one-two combo of Peni and Miles should be enough to get to the bottom of the identity of their attacker, but if not, there is always Sp//dr and Uncle Ben to help out as well.
