Current Spider-Man actor Tom Holland, who's admitted he's unsure what his future holds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, discussed the possibility of being replaced as the web-slinging superhero.

"When they cast the young kid in Spider-Man to replace me, whether it's next year or in five years, I'll take it upon myself to teach them about the responsibilities of being Spider-Man," Holland revealed in the latest issue of Total Film, via The Direct. "Because it's huge. It's absolutely huge. Every time you walk outside that door, you're representing Spider-Man. It's tough. It's taxing sometimes. Because sometimes you just want to go to a pub and get absolutely wasted, and not have to worry about the ramifications of the public scrutiny of: 'Oh my God, what do you mean you got drunk?'"

The upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home marks Holland's third Spider-Man film and his sixth overall appearance in the MCU. Holland, whose contract is up after the release of the threequel, recently described No Way Home as "the end of a franchise," adding, "I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you'd be seeing a very different version. It would no longer be the Homecoming trilogy. We would give it some time and try to build something different and tonally change the films. Whether that happens or not, I don't know. But we were definitely treating [No Way Home] like it was coming to an end, and it felt like it."

Zendaya, who plays Peter Parker’s love interest, MJ, in the MCU's Spider-Man movies, recently suggested that No Way Home might be the current cast's final Spider-Man film. "We don't know if we're gonna do another one," she said.

Tobey Maguire was the first actor to portray the iconic web-slinger on the big screen, playing the role in three films. Andrew Garfield then put on the Spidey suit for his two The Amazing Spider-Man movies, which weren't as well-received as Maguire's trilogy. After five years and six films, Holland has now portrayed Spider-Man longer than his two counterparts.

There have been persistent rumors that Maguire and Garfield might reprise their iterations of Peter Parker in No Way Home, which is confirmed to see the return of various villains from past Spider-Man franchises. Holland has denied that his predecessors appear in the film, most recently stating, "People don't believe me when I say that [Maguire and Garfield] are not coming back. But people are going to have to believe me at some point."

Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters Dec. 17.
