Earlier in the "Last Remains" storyline in Amazing Spider-Man, the heroes that serve as part of the spider-totem came up with a name on the spot, calling themselves the Order of the Web. Now that the battle with Kindred is temporarily over with, they know they have bigger battles to fight.
As a result, the heroes chose to remain connected to one another and have formed an official team where they will try to keep an eye on Spider-Man and deal with the problems that this war with Kindred raised. However, with the official team, they have also shortened their name. Spider-Gwen said that the original name that Madame Web gave them was a little long, so she said they would now be known as The Order.
The new team includes Miles Morales' Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Madame Web, Silk, Spider-Gwen, and Spider-Girl. They were not happy with Peter Parker when he came out after the battle with Kindred and refused to explain what happened. They almost died trying to help him, and all went through a lot. She also pointed out that Peter made a choice that he claimed was for them, but she believes he has been hiding something. Mary Jane stepped up to stop the debate, and Madame Web agreed but told Peter that the time to talk would come.
After Peter and Mary Jane left, the Order began to discuss what their next move would be. While Spider-Man was busy dealing with Norman Osborn and wiping his hands of his part in the entire situation, the Order said that he still needs their help, even if he doesn't want to let them help. Spider-Woman said it doesn't matter because she knows something big is coming, and they won't give Spider-Man a choice when the time comes. She admitted Kindred isn't finished, all the sins that Sin-Eater set free are running wild, and something big is coming. Spider-Gwen said they needed someone to tell them what to do, and that is when Madame Web said they would stick together. This excited Spider-Man, who wanted to make bylaws and rent office space, although he knows what being a team member is about. He was in the Avengers and is a current member of the Champions. They decided that could wait. For now, they are known as the Order, and it was time they got to work.
While the Order of the Web was a little long and a mouthful for Spider-Gwen, the new name doesn't have the best connotations either. During "Civil War," Tony Stark started the Initiative to place superhero teams around the United States, all working for the U.S. Government. The California team was initially, and ironically, called the Champions but was then renamed the Order. It was an interesting group, as each member had a Greek God's power, but as a government ran team, if one of the members broke the rules, they found themselves stripped of their powers, and someone else would replace them. The team ended up phasing out after the Initiative, and soon the real Champions were back in action.
Another team known as the Order consisted of the founding members of the Defenders --Doctor Strange, Namor, Hulk, and Silver Surfer. This took place in The Order (2002) by Kurt Busiek, Matt Haley, Dan Panosian, Gregory Wright & Randy Gentile. It put some of the most powerful heroes on Earth in a position where they forced their will on the people of Earth with a new world order of sorts, under a curse placed upon them by Yandroth. However, that ended when the rest of the Defenders stopped them and broke the curse, ending the threat once and for all.
