Miles Morales discovers a new superpower, and learns Peter Parker doesn't approve of capes, in a new sneak peek at Sony's animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Clocking in at newly a minute long, the promo serves as both a quick introduction to the movie's premise -- Spider-heroes from multiple dimensions unite against a threat -- and a roll call of the key players: Miles Morales, Peter Parker, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker and, yes, Spider-Ham.

Beyond that, however, the footage underscores Miles as a novice not only learning about his powers, but also what it takes to be a hero. The former, as he discovers, includes invisibility, "some kind of fight-or-flight thing" that helps to set him apart from the other Spider-heroes. Better that than a cape, apparently.

Developed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse pits the heroes against such villains as Wilson Fisk, Green Goblin and the Prowler, after a super-collider somehow breaks down the barriers between universes, allowing different versions of Spider-Man to meet.

Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse stars Shameik Moore, Brian Tyree Henry, Jake Johnson, Mahershala Ali, Hailee Steinfeld, Liev Schreiber, Luna Lauren Velez, Lily Tomlin, Nicolas Cage, John Mulaney and Kimiko Glenn. The film opens Dec. 14.
