In Hollywood, it seems that with great cross-company superhero movies, comes great scheduling responsibility. At least, that has certainly been the case with Sony's latest film incarnation of the webbed wall-crawler, as Tom Holland's Spider-Man made his big screen debut in Marvel Studios' massive 2016 superhero crossover hit "Captain America: Civil War." But if Spidey is going to stay in sync with the various goings-on of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the timing his solo films have to work out just right too.

According to "Spider-Man: Homecoming" producer and Marvel Studios ‎Director of Development Eric Carroll, the release dates of Sony's MCU-based "Spider-Man" movies have been finessed to fit in with the Marvel movies' continuity phases.

"There’s nothing in it for us or for Sony to accidentally start competing or putting a movie out at the wrong time or confusing the continuity," the producer said during the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" set visit (via Nerdist).

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” follows the events of “Captain America: Civil War.” Described as “a coming-of-age story,” the film finds Peter Parker attending his high school for gifted kids, trying to impress his new benefactor Tony Stark and also dealing with a pesky arch enemy, the Vulture.

Directed by Jon Watts (“Clown”) from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (“Vacation”), “Spider-Man: Homecoming” stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. The film opens July 7.
