Marvel's Amazing Spider-Man #24 finally reveals why MJ left Peter Parker for a man named Paul.

After stealing gadgetry from the Fantastic Four and Tony Stark/Iron Man, Amazing Spider-Man #24 sees Peter work with Norman Osborn/the former Green Goblin to build a new suit designed to help him reach the other dimension. These efforts ultimately prove successful and Peter arrives just in time to stop Benjamin Rabin/the Emissary, who is largely responsible for trapping MJ in this other world, from murdering his girlfriend and Paul.

Mary Jane Started Her Own Family While Peter Was Away

While Peter only appears to have been away from Mary Jane for a couple of days, the end of Amazing Spider-Man #24 reveals time works differently in the dimension MJ and Paul have been trapped in. "You've been gone a long time," she tells Peter. "A lot has changed." Paul then interrupts to tell MJ that "the kids are scared," at which point he steps back to reveal Stephanie and Owen, who debuted in 2022's Amazing Spider-Man #1 but haven't had their origins revealed until now. "They're my family," MJ tells a startled Peter.
