Spider-Man may be the quintessential New York superhero but does his presence attract super-powered villains to the city?
The latest trailer for the upcoming PlayStation 4 game highlights the relationship between the webslinging superhero and his colorful rogues' gallery from the unstoppable Rhino to the high-flying Vulture.
In the new trailer, Peter Parker calls in to a talk show hosted by J. Jonah Jameson under the pseudonym Ben Reilly to defend Spider-Man from Jameson's attacks while the incendiary host argues that Spidey's presence has attracted and enabled the presence of supervillains, making him a true menace.
The Insomniac Games' title shows various classic Spider-Man villains vying for control of the city after Spidey defeats Kingpin early in the video game. As the nefarious Mister Negative steps up to fill the villainous power vacuum, Silver Sable and her army of mercenaries arrive in an attempt to bring strong-armed, privatized security to the city by any means necessary putting them on a collision course with the friendly neighborhood wallcrawler.
Whether he's to blame for the rise of supervillains or not, Spidey is definitely going to have his hands full.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation 4. It is scheduled for release on September 7.
