According to creative director Bryan Intihar, Miles Morales' role in Sony's Spider-Man PS4 game grew over the development process. Originally, Miles' role was minimal, until Intihar went and read up on the character's history. From there, the relationship between him and Peter was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

"I just fell in love with the character," Intihar told GamesTM. "Just like MJ can provide a different perspective on the world, I thought Miles and his relationship to Peter brings something different.”

In the game, the two will meet courtesy of Aunt May's job at F.E.A.S.T. "I’m pretty excited about him and where we take him. It’s going to be something. It’s going to surprise people,” he shared.

Last year at E3, Insomniac Games revealed that Miles Morales would be a part of the cast. In the trailer, he can be seen briefly taking a photo of chaos left over from Peter Parker's tangle with Mr. Negative. Since then, anticipation for the potential to play as them both has had many fans anticipating the game.

Insomniac has said the game will cover both the hero and normal sides of Peter Parker’s life, something that the trailer showcases. In addition to Miles, there are also scenes of Peter interacting with Mary Jane Watson and Aunt May, along with learning that his apartment has lost power. (He is, naturally, not paying his rent on time.) Unfortunately for him, things only get worse from there, as a new supervillain named Mr. Negative is terrorizing the city with his gang, the Inner Demons. To make matters worse, that same man is also one Martin Li, esteemed philanthropist and the man behind F.E.A.S.T. Typical Parker luck!

Spider-Man swings onto the PS4 sometime this year.
