Insomniac Games eagerly anticipated PlayStation 4 video game Spider-Man has officially finished development.The video game studio announced through their Twitter account this morning that the game had "gone gold" meaning that development for the title had been completed. With the game itself now ready, Insomniac is now making the final preparations for its launch on September 7.

Originally announced as part of Sony's presentation at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Spider-Man originally had an unspecified release date in 2017 later being pushed to the first half of 2018 before receiving its final release date for September 7 this past April. The game is being developed by Insomniac in association with Marvel Games and published by Sony as a PlayStation 4 exclusive title.

The game is an open-world action-adventure title following Peter Parker balancing his responsibilities as Spider-Man while preparing to graduate from college. While an experienced superhero, Parker finds himself in over his head as the new supervillain Mister Negative leads his gang, the Inner Demons, in a power struggle against the Kingpin. The game's original storyline was co-written by longtime Spider-Man writers Dan Slott and Christos Gage.

Marvel's Spider-Man is developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation 4. It is scheduled for release on September 7.
